Stroke rehabilitation in India
Stroke is the loss /impairment of function of a body part due to a sudden interruption in the blood supply to the brain. Mostly it is due to an abrupt blockade of a blood vessel supplying brain; this is called ischemic stroke. It can be due to a clot somewhere inside a blood vessel outside brain and getting dislodged- called embolic stroke or can be due to blood getting clotted inside blood vessels supplying brain-thrombotic stroke. However it can also come due to other reasons like bleeding inside the brain, sudden heart attack etc resulting in loss of blood supply to brain.
Stroke Rehabilitation is on increasing demand throughout the world. The recovery from stroke is often slow and incomplete; leading to partial or complete loss of locomotion, activities of daily living (ADL), cognition and communication skills. The lack of standardized protocol and awareness among even the physical therapists often compounds the problems of these patients.( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22982827.) Rehabilitation of stroke patient in Adseroga comprises of traditional exercise programmes and neuropsychological approaches with the primary aim of restoring mobility of patient. Aim of our stroke treatment is to reduce the disabilities and enable the patient to return to community, which is achieved by joint efforts of physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers and psychologists. We start our program once the stroke is completed (not in evolution) and the patient is medically stable. Significant recovery from stroke can be seen in the first six months of the insult; hence we solicit early therapies in our centres.
Our gait (walking) training program supported by a weight-supported walking assist device first on a treadmill, followed by the same on natural surfaces, helps in improving over the ground walking function for those suffering from stroke. The un-weighing and limb guidance, and the repetitive walking pattern provided during our stroke therapy, help the brain and spinal cord work together to retrain the brain and body to facilitate stroke recovery. Such early mobilization by physiotherapy not only facilitates better outcome, but also brings in better cardiovascular health and prevent osteoporosis and bed sores. All our therapists are certified in their respective fields, offering the maximum from their side to you.
Constraint induced movement therapy(CIMT): CIMT has been shown to be an effective means of stroke rehabilitation regardless of the level of initial motor ability, amount of chronicity, amount of prior therapy, side of hemiparesis, or infarct location. CIMT coupled with our intensive and varied exercise therapy is effective in reducing spasticity and increasing function of the hemiplegic upper extremity in chronic stroke patients. All our varied approaches for stroke training are evidence based to help you out with least suffering.

We also help you to get trained in the best vocational skills suited for you, if needed, because of your disease severity. The recreational therapists help you to bridge you to the main stream.
